Karunanidhi died at 6:10 p.m. on 7 August 2018 at the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai after a prolonged, age-related illness which led to multiple-organ failure.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi Biography:

Muthuvel Karunanidhi (M.Karunanidhi) born on 3 June 1924 popularly known as Kalaignar (artist), was an Indian politician who served as the chief minister of the state of Tamil Nadu for five separate terms in the 1969–2011 period. He was a long-standing leader of the Dravidian Self-respect movement and ten-time president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.

Before entering politics he worked in the Tamil film industry as a screenwriter. He has also made contributions to Tamil literature, having written stories, plays, novels, and a multiple-volume memoir.

At the age of 20, Karunanidhi went to work for Jupiter Pictures as a scriptwriter. His first film, Rajakumaari, gained him much popularity. It was here that his skills as a scriptwriter were honed, which extended to several films. He was active in screenwriting even during his later political career till 2011 when he last wrote for historic movie Ponnar Shankar.

G. V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian film score and soundtrack composer, actor and singer. He has predominantly scored music for Tamil films. His first film was S Pictures' Veyyil (2006) and he became popular in Tamil cinema by the early 2010s.

Kathir is an Indian film actor who has appeared in Tamil language films. He made his breakthrough playing the lead role in Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013), before gaining critical acclaim for his performance in Kirumi (2015).

Kathir made his debut as an actor through Vikram Sukumaran's Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013), which was produced by noted music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar.

The film opened to positive reviews, with Kathir earning critical acclaim for his portrayal of a village youngster. A critic from The Hindu stated Kathir "tries to do his best", while Sify.com stated he had done "a good job in his first role". 

Kathir then won critical acclaim for his performance in the thriller film, Kirumi (2015) directed by Anucharan and written by Manikandan. The film was also sent to international film festivals, with a critic from The Hollywood Reporter noting that "playing his namesake character, Kathir makes for a particularly avid small-time crook, effortlessly cataloging useful information for the police officers he smoothly ingratiates himself with by dint of feigned respect and subtle manipulation".

In 2017, he will be seen in the action thriller Ennodu Vilayadu alongside Bharath. He has also been cast in Vikram Vedha with R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, Pa. Ranjith's production Pariyerum Perumal and in Sigai, where he will portray an effeminate film. His next is Sathru, a crime thriller, directed by debutant Naveen Nanjundan.
